You sure can. A rock trap from a 1440, 1460, 1640, 1660, 1644, 1666, 21_2344, or 21_2366 should fit a 1440. If you have a combine salvage yard near you, see if you can find one there. One word of caution, stay away from the early 4-blade version IH started out with. They did not seem to feed well. Try to find a 3-blade version. You'll need extensions for your feeder cylinders so that the feeder will still lift as high. Need a longer feeder drive belt, some odds n ends brackets and such. Also will need a longer feeder shaft as most use a sprocket on the opposite side from the drive pulley to run the rock trap(I presume you don't have a feeder reverser, most 1400s don't). That's a start anyway, if I think of more later, I'll let you know.
