I just dug up a retail delivery receipt on our old 300. Dad bought it 1_16_66. It was a 1963 machine and paid $7850 for it.He traded a Massey Clipper in for $100 and a Ford mounted picker for $300.I think the 300-510's were made in Canada but I'm not sure what city.Dad traded the 300 in on a 510 9_9_70and got $5200 for it on trade.

The MF 300, 410, 510,750,751,760,540,550,850,851,852,855,860,and865 were all built in Brantford Ontario Canada. The plant was in operation till 1986 as Massey Ferguson. In 1987 the plant was sold to Massey Combines Co. The reason for doing this was to Be able to bankrupt the combine division (the only way to get rid of one of the most agressive, demanding and company destroying unions in Can. history) and not effect the rest of Massey Ferguson. Massey combine Co. went into receivership in 1987 and closed the doors. The city of Brantford still has not recovered to this very day and only has the union to blame. I toured that plant in the late 70's. It was one of the most modern manufacturing facilities in its time and was huge, 40 acres under one roof. They had a huge research and development devision. There is supposed to be a prototype of the new model to replace the 850 working on a farm in Milton ON. It has a centre mounterd cab and rear engine design. I am going to look for it some day. In fact the IH Axial Flow was designed by an engineer that worked for MF, but they wern't interested because they already had the majority of the combine market so he took it to IH. The rest is history.
