You probably cant go wrong with a CAT 470. You can always go back to a 2388 if you are not happy with the 470 after a season of its use. Thats only one way to find out if you like it or not. I had a 9750sts this year along with my other 2388s. I only got one sts because I wanted to put it up against my other 2388s. The sts did a great job, but I felt that my 2388s did as well or better, so I cannot justify the price of a sts when my 2388 does an excellent job. I know a farmer south of us had 2 2388s last yr and traded both off for 2 480 Cats. I haven't had a chance to talk with him how he thought the 480 did compared to the 2388s he had last year. I am anxious to hear from him as I am thinking of demoing a 480 CAT next summer. Hope this helps.

Im kinda confused. I dont think that the 470 is a 12 row machine. Oh it would handle it fine but i think that cat has not been pushing that as a 12 row machine cause of IJ's on the front axle load limit they havent been able to put it to a real test. 2388 12 row machine looks like an old girl with a new skirt. I would question the performance on that set up, but ask your cat dealer about the 470 and the 12 row. 475 would be fine 470 dont know IJ

If he went to 2 480 CATS, how many more trucks did he getIJ He had to be happy with all that capacity! Please post his impressions when you talk to him. Thank-you.

Dman2388.....please, do yourself a favour and test the lexion. I ran CIH Axial-Flows for the last 5 years. We tested the new 2388 with a 9750 STS this year, and decided to order 3 new 2388's.
