Combines combine class size

Combine Wizard, I believe the original class concept was derived from the number of straw walkers the combine had, and has probably been more defined by ASAE engineering specs. Don't know those specs; maybe someone can post them for us all to see. I feel setup of a particular machine for the crop and conditions will have alot of effect on performance versus the basic numbers of class size, however.

A dealer told me that there is really no standard. A manufacturer calls a combine whatever class they want too.

I've been told that the class of a combine is determined by grain tank size and engine horse power. That sounds pretty stupid I know but I think that is correct.

class is determined by horsepower and the capacity of the grain tank. do not remember the exact specs for each class.
