The 27th annual Farm Days will take place in St. Jean from Jan. 4-5.

The world commodities situation is as volatile as at any time in history, says Mike Jubinville, lead analyst and president of Pro Farmer Canada, a market analysis and advisory service for farm commodities based in Winnipeg. Jubinville will be speaking at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at St. Jean Farm Days XXVII ? an annual event organized by a local committee in conjunction with the Morris GO Office of Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI).

In his feature presentation, entitled Market Outlook for 2012, "we'll be looking at everything from individual supply-demand fundamentals, to the influence of the global macro-economic turmoil we're in," says Jubinville

Agricultural market analyst John Duvenaud will wind up Farm Days on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 5 with his presentation, The World Economy and Grain Markets. The publisher of the Wild Oats Grain Market Advisory for the last 22 years, Duvenaud will present an overview of the roller-coaster that's been the last 10 years.

Climate and weather

Climate and weather are crucial to agriculture, and farmers will have two opportunities to garner cutting edge information on this topic. On Wednesday morning, MAFRI Ag Met Weather Specialist Michael Wroblewski will guide the audience through a graphical presentation of the weather conditions recorded throughout southern Manitoba for the 2011 growing season, with a further detailed look at how the conditions in the Red River Valley compared to previous years. He'll also explain and demonstrate "Spraycast", a new on-line tool that allows the applicator to select his/her location and receive guidance on the best time to spray.
