Railways play an integral role in the grain delivery system. With the bulkiness of grain, great Canadian distances and significantmountain ranges, railway transportation is a major player in the grain logistics system. In Western Canada, the railway system is the only economical way to remove grain from terminals to deliver to port. Traditionally I don?t think that farmers think about how important a role that railways play. Just ask yourself, ?what if railways didn?t pull grain cars??

With Jim Dinning now leading the rail service review, farmers and the railways are trying to ensure that this relationship holds strong long into the future.

Canadian Pacific Railway has produced a commercial that tells the story of two brothers and their unique relationship with the farm and the railway. Basically one brother loves trains and the other loves farming. As they get older they realize that this loves of farming and trains not only ties them together but also the food system of Canada.
