The Ontario Court of Justice has approved an appeal from Oxford County hog farmer Eric Van Boekel, who had been sentenced to 30 days in jail for the improper spread of manure on his fields.Eric Van Boekel, Yvonne Van Boekel, Van Boekel Hog Farms Inc. and Van Boekel Holdings were also fined $345,000 on Jan. 12 for spills that drained from two separate farms into Sweets Creek and the Thames River.Van Boekels lawyer, Ron Ellis, confirmed Monday that an appeal was granted last Thursday by Judge Marietta Roberts.?Every aspect of the conviction and sentence is under appeal,?
