Our nieghbor uses a flex head to cut wheat to get maximum straw yields. He just used auto field tracker like he was cuting beans. No known problems with it.

On our farm for all our smallgrain that is all we use,as well as the other farmers in our area. I live in hagersville ontario, allwe do is pin the header up for wheat, barely, oats, and a little bit of clover seed. It works great for all our applications.

Here in the northeast, most of the guys do about 10% wheat, and 40% beans, and 50% corn, so we use 1020's in wheat, rather than buy a rigid head. With the cutter bar locked up they work as good as a 1010 in wheat, you shouldn't have any problems that way. some of our guys have adapted the cornhead field tracker package to the grainhead, and use the lateral float an auto header height with the head locked in rigid position.
