Combines 9600 CYlINDER BARS

If 1_2 ot the cyl. bar teeth are removed, the spacing is widened to about 3_4". In a rub bar type machine such as yours, they will be somewhat more aggressive and will pull corn thru more easily, and bean vines as well. However, that spacing also will allow heads of wheat to pass thru between the teeth and sometimes bean pods also. In order to thresh small grains and tough bean pods you will find yourself with a concave setting in front which is tighter than you want which will create a whitecapping condition and will still carry unthreshed heads and pods to the walkers due to lack of overlap between the teeth. The best alternative is to install rasp bars with a 1_2" spacing. However, this requires reducing the cylinder dia. since rasp bars are approx. twice as tall as rub bars, and no kit is available as yet for conversion. An alternative which we use is to build up every other tooth with hardfacing material and leave the ones between lower. The shorter teeth will still hold material against the concave, and the taller teeth grab better than if they are in a straight line. This actually looks cosmetically terrible, but it works very well.
