Check to see if a JD dealer in your area has a winter inspection program. For a flat fee (around $250) a mechanic will go over the machine top to bottom, then go over the machine with you and its your decision on what and what not to fix, and how much you want them to fix and how much to do yourself. We do this every year and sometimes they spot things we miss. Then we take the machine home and fix most of them ourselves. I would also recomend getting the parts CD-Rom (one CD covers 20 series and 9000 series and headers for $60) You'll be suprised how many trips to town you save by being able to call in a part n to see if they have it. As for the 7720, I dont know of anything special, just take the time to look over All of the chains, sprockets, belts and augars. Be sure to check the cylinder bars

When purchasing a used JD 00 or 20 series combine be sure you clean out under the console ontop of the PTO housing. This is a very "hot " spot, and could save you a Combine.
