Ed, You need a rasp spining with rotor to get straw that last couple inches to discharge. It don't sound like much but believe me that it makes a massive difference when straw isn't perfectly fit. I believe you will lose less crop because crop will be flowing nicely instead of slugging it out taking seeds. You will not screw up anything only help. We have the kit and it just bolts onto rotor in place of currant discharge paddle. Have a good day. Dan
