we have fields that are water logged in the top 12" - 15" , then have a hard pan and then have a gravelly base. found this out using a dutch shovel. we built a 27" clearance tooth...one tooth....and pull it with a 50 hp tractor with the tooth all the way down rooting at 24" to 27" pulling at about 4.5 mph and slower....the tractor is working really hard. we leave the cracks_slices open over the winter to let the frost get into the ground to help fracture the hardpan_below plow depth layer, for better drainage...it's working. so count on needing lots of power, weight and traction to do anything. we work with this small equipment because of the small fields and the type of agriculture we practice. my 2 cents FarmerTom
