Yes, there is a micro switch that senses when the auger is fully extended. This switch needs to be adjusted. It is located near the swivel and is a quick, easy fix. If it appears to be adjusted properly, the switch might be going bad. Check it with the engine off - you should be able to hear it click when you press on it. The purpose of it is so the auger cannot be engaged unless it is extended to protect the drive and u-joint.

agree with t. langan,one easy way to check, take a screw driver put it across switch, if unloader comes on you need to adjust posistion of switch or adjust chain for auger swing.

thanks guys but this is a '98 r-52 and there is no micro switch up by the swivel there is a magnet contact that when the auger is swung out, it completes the curcuit, unless it's hidden somewhere up top. Bob

It could be you have too much of an air gap for that type of switch or it might be going bad. You can disconnect the wires and hook them together to get by until you get a new one if it is bad, but will need to be extremely cautious to not engage unloader unless the tube is swung out fully!
