the 'deep throat ' kit of Dan's will help say 20% or so. Also in some conditions one can add the pulley off the 97 and prior lat tilt kit that is a 10% speed up of throat chains. Post back if you want that part n for it and belt. On RARE occasions we have seen where the throat chains put on slow speed will improve feeding. Easy swap to check here and not a bad job to install speed up sheave. Finally we take apart the slip clutchs now and put small metric flat washers under the springs in the radial pin limiters. The upper clutch can be locked solid as they did this in the R55's eliminating the upper clutch altogether.

Same exact throat deal on small machines as large machines only narrower. Do the throat kit and you'll be looking for larger header or more hydro. Makes them narrow throats very hungry. Good luck
