Combines MF750 returns clutch woes

I discovered that the returns elevator jams when it is loaded. The trouble appears to be the design of the driving sprocket 270 277M1. It is of asymmetrical design, so as to clear the widely spaced chain rollers. It has a hook on one side of the tooth in order to move the chain, and a gradual slope on the other to clear the incoming roller. Unfortunately it is driven in the reverse direction, so that under load, the roller works up the slope effectively increasing the sprocket diameter and tries to stretch the chain and toasts the returns clutch. Because of a boss on one side, the sprocket cannot be reversed as is. I cut the boss off with a cutoff wheel and reversed the sprocket. The returns functioned perfectly in my dirtiest spring wheat in 34 years, with the clutch showing no wear whatsoever.
