Assuming its the original and not an updated box you loosen the allen screws on the side and the whole lower shaft slides out kind of like a cartridge unit. lower shaft with all bearings and the bevel gear, which is an integral part of the shaft, come out. Probably not without a little encouragement. You can try tightening the slotted nut to reload the bearings without removing any parts. They are tapered roller similar to a wheel bearing. If you tighten this way also check gear lash. You can maybe snug up gear lash by loosening the allen screws and taping the unit in. But also the gear end of the shaft butts up against the pin in the center of the box limiting how far you can engage the gears. fwiw: We now keep the componets to rebuild the box. Bearings and shafts_gears(one piece) as this has been a trouble spot for us. Another fwiw: The last time we rebuilt the box we ground a little off the gear end of each shaft, a very small amount and preferrably the exact same amount, so we could have tighter gear mesh. Of course this can mess with gear alignment so-----IJIJ We were_are probably just lucky but this rebuild has outlasted others. This is getting long but I think if you pump too much grease in it it can push the seal out of the auger end and let dirt and moisture in. --------- THE END!!

We kept a spare gearbox on hand, call a salvage yard, it is the same gearbox that was used on the old TR70 unloading auger.
