We are currently running CX 840s 860s and one 880 and will confirm without a doubt that they will handle all straw residue concerns. The 860s and 880 have alot more HP and will do a better job in heavy wet conditions and with bigger heads. With one 860 you can expect to do about 30-40% more then a 2388 if set up properly. I run with 2388s and know this from experience. As far as reliabilty, they are much better then any other Case and NH combines and in my opinion equal to Deere. The key to keeping your machine going is working with a good dealer and learning from other customers problems.

Cannot go wrong with a cx. Bought an 860 last fall, great capacity, about 20-25% better than an 8680,(we have two, I agree POS)the 860 will use substancially less fuel than a 970, but capacity similar in tough conditions. Straw quality is similar to 8680, a little more broke up than the 9600 jd. We have a neighbor with 1500 hours on an 860, only two small breakdowns since owning it and harvests 4-5 thousand acres a year(NE sask)

I have one CX 860 for sale John and would look at trades. If you have not dealt yet contact me at 780-581-0588. I have had the same experience as goncutn and am very happy with the performance of the machines.
