Unfortunately, very few headers can be adapted to a different combine without a lot of work, aggravation, time and money. This creates a big challenge for farmers and an obstacle trying to attain the goals of 25% x 2025. On the otherhand, if you all agree and support ASABE proposal 055008 for Combine Header Interface Standardization (CHIS),then we can get this to be as safe, easy and routine at hooking a green 3 point hitch implement behind a red or yellow tractor. Pass this on to your farming buddies and send some seed money to advance this worthy project to FarmBuddy Co. PO Box 647, Columbus, IN 47202 By working together, we'll git 'er done and have some fun.

In a word NO. A 73C can be adapted to the hydraulic and electrics of a CR since it had the largerfeeder opening. For a 973 to work itwould require a good bit of cutting and rewelding to open up the width of the feeder opening. I have seen it done on a 996 corn head. Really nice job done by a welding shop. In a nutshell a 73C grainhead and a 96C cornhead heads will fit right on, but would need adapter kits for electric controls and hydraulic couplers. Same for a rigid head and pickup head of the same age.
