To loose prime that quick I would suspect an air leak in the low pressure fuel system somewhere. One thing you may want to check. Take the priming pump off and look at the two small check valves pressed into the bottom. If one of them is loose and moves around, it will cause the engine to loose prime. Make sure the priming pump handle is screwed down tight after use.

I just had to rebuild my injector pump because the engine suddenly lost prime every time I shut it off. I was seeing some fuel seepage from the injector pump on top of the engine. This was on a TR86. Cat said several o rings were bad in the pump.

They took it off and rebuilt it and reset pump pressure settings. Pretty pricey but it fixed it.

This should be a pretty easy fix, drain back (leakage) in delivery lines before transfer pump or on top cover is a constant bleed valve that will also allow back feed of fuel and leave air in top of pump.
