There seems to be more to capacity than cylinder width. I "demo'ed" a Claas Dominator 106 (62" cylinder) against my Deere 7720 (55" cylinder) and the Deere won easily, both in capacity and grain quality in mixed-grain and corn. Granted, the Claas had an 18" six-bar cylinder versus the Deere's 22" 8-bar cylinder but, in my opinion, those two machines should have AT lEAST been evenly matched.

I do beleive that it comes down to some simple geometry. I think you should just have to find out the area that the cylinder is in contact with the grain and concave at the same time before it is released to the walkers. I think this should give you your answer even though I havent run a combine and wouldn't know otherwise. Just a thought. Justin

Those 9860's are an overated machine. If you look at the specs, they are the exact same combine from the 9660 to the 9860, all they did was up the horsepower. Go run the Cat 580R next to it, and see how they compare.

I agree. The STS has a much smaller shoe than a 9610 while getting more acres done per hour with a similar sample and grain loss.

did the sieve go through the cleaning fan or the chopperIJIJIJIJPossible that the sieve frame broke and it was not caught in time...

I am not sure of what happened. I just know it was a mess and the combine went to the shop.
