One aspect of the CHIS proposal includes provisions to keep fodder, leaves, straw, MOG material from building up on top of the feederhouse through out the day. Our CHIS proposal includes an inverted __ shield over the centerline driveshaft. As another alternative, Tim Johnson at WA Johnson sent us a Debris Deflector Bib to put on our combine this fall. We were very impressed how simple it was and how well it worked. Here are our farmer and customer comments. Easy to install with two eyebolts in existing holes. Two large magnets hold the front of the bib in place on the header. Debris is deflected back into the header through out the day. Grain overflow off of the cab roof is deflected back into the header instead of on top of the feederhouse. Material does not build up around the JD contour master cylinders or position sensor linkage. Rain water does not get on top of the feederhouse or contour master. Debris bib is easy to detach from header when removing header or cleaning windows. Highly recommended for JD STS combines that we tested it on. Appearance of combine is much neater since the feederhouse haystack is eliminated. Fire hazard should be reduced since not as much loose material gets on top of the lefthand feederhouse drive belts.
