Tractors When Ferguson Tractors Went to the South Pole

In a recent Farm Life magazine article this historic moment was recounted, when Ferguson tractors were driven to the South Pole, becoming the first vehicles to be driven to the pole, and the first overland journey to the pole since Captain Scott in 1912.
In all seven Ferguson TE-20 tractors were part of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition that was led by Sir Edmund Hillary from 1955-1959. Some of the machines had half-tracks installed on the rear, but others were fully tracked machines. Four of the modified tractors were gasoline engines, and three were diesel powered.
