The inaugural Borderway UK Dairy Expo, aimed at both pedigree and commercial breeders, takes place at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, on Friday, March 2 and Saturday, March 3, 2012.

Organised by Harrison and Hetherington, and supported by Farmers Guardian, the two-day event begins with the International Dairy Youth Championships on the first day.

This gives junior exhibitors, aged 12-25, the opportunity to demonstrate their cattle handling and showing techniques in the Showmanship Competition.

This is followed by a Clipping Competition open to all youth (aged 16-25). Competitors will show how they can clip and fit an animal to show-ready status in a timed event and young breeders from several European countries will be participating.

Friday night?s main event will be the Global Classic sale of 25 specially selected animals, representing some of the UK dairy industry?s best genetics.

Classes
The focus will be on the dairy cattle classes on Saturday, which have over 300 entries, and will feature the Holstein, Jersey, Ayrshire, Red and White, Brown Swiss, Dairy Shorthorn and British Friesian breeds.
