6-ROW STALK CHOPPER SOLD FOR BIG $$
Small afternoon farm retirement auction yesterday, July 18, 2012, in north-central Iowa by my friends at Ryerson Auction & Realty, Ltd. Couple very interesting & STRONG sale prices for you to chew on:

1980 JD 4040 tractor with 4849 hours: $27,000 (duals seperate for $625)

JD 7000 6R-30 planter, herbicide: $7,600

JD 27 6R-30 stalk chopper: $4,500

1980 JD 4420 combine with 2390 hours, never sat outside overnight: $8,000

1979 JD 443 4-row narrow corn head: $4,100
Some awfully strong sale prices there folks...even in face of the growing drought. $27,000 for the 1980 JD 4040 tractor is the 4th highest auction sale price I'VE EVER SEEN on a JD 4040. For perspective all (4) of the highest sale prices have come since 2009, so that pretty much shows you how RED HOT the market has been & continues to be for real good condition used Tractors OF ANY AGE. $7,600 for the JD 7000 6R-30 planter is also very strong price. As I've blogged, written & spoken about often since last August (2011) the market for good condition 6-Row Planters has zoomed higher and hasn't come down much.

$4,500 for the JD 27 6R-30 Stalk Chopper is an interesting price too I think. $4,500 seemed HIGH to me when the sale price report came through from Ryerson Auction & Realty last night. So I looked in our "auction results" and found $4,500 is in fact the 5th highest sale price I've seen over the past 16+ years. But again, for perspective, the (4) higher sale prices all came in 2010-2011.

HOT PRICES ON RED TRACTORS SATURDAY
I LOVE visiting northwest Iowa :) Folks are always so welcoming. No different last Saturday as I zipped out to Rock Valley, IA to cover well known used equipment buyer/seller Albert Groeneweg's auction of his personal collection of (37) Tractors...what a lineup Albert had. I LOVED how he had plenty of both red & green tractors. Albert is 82 years old and has been buying & selling good used equipment for 40 years he told me this week. I met Albert while covering a farm auction out that way back in late April that we shot for the "Machinery Show" on RFD-TV (episodes just airing now with that footage from Sanborn, IA farm auction). Albert told me with a wink & a smile "Pete, you'd better get back out here for my sale in mid July." I'm sure glad I made it out Saturday to the sale. LOT of talk at the sale about how the very, very dry/hot weather & drought conditions may or may not affect sale prices. I was kind of thinking Albert's sale would be somewhat insulated from possible -- drought affect and I think that's kind of how it played out. Sale prices, especially on Albert's line of IHC Tractors, were very solid I thought...including a NEW RECORD HIGH AUCTION SALE PRICE of $31,500 for his 1972 IHC 1468 diesel tractor with 3869 hours....it sold for $31,500. Here's a Youtube video I posted Saturday night after getting home from the auction with highlights of the (3) IHC 1468's, (2) IHC 1568's, (2) IHC 1206's, the super nice IHC 966 (2nd highest sale price I've ever seen on an IHC 966) and a totally cool IHC 1026 Gold Demonstrator:

I will post another Youtube video here soon featuring some of the nifty John Deere tractors on Albert's auction Saturday. Of course I will also enter all the sale price data from today's northwest Iowa auction into our "auction results" database in our web site, along with sale price data from other machinery auctions held the last couple days around the U.S. & Canada...we've got over 311,900 auction sale prices in there now...more fresh data flowing in daily from our 800+ auctioneer contacts all over.
