* NEW RECORD PRICE ON CASEIH 7130 *
Farm sale today (Aug. 23, 2012) in southwest, MN...1992 CaseIH 7130 MFWD tractor with 3060 hours, sold $62,000. NEW RECORD SALE PRICE. Also IHC 1026 diesel with 5122 hours sold for $22,500.

"NEW" EQUIPMENT ON NW IOWA AUCTION
Wow, I've seen a LOT of machinery auctions in my 22+ years of tracking sale prices, but not many like the consignment auction held Monday (August 20, 2012) in northwest Iowa. Highlights:

2012 CaseIH 5130 combine with 3 engine hours: $185,000
2012 CaseIH 350 HD Steiger 4WD tractor, bareback, 5 hours: $199,000
2012 CaseIH 180 Magnum MFWD tractor with 34.2 hours: $102,500
2012 CaseIH 180 Magnum MFWD tractor with 0 hours: $105,000
2013 CaseIH ER1240 12R-30 planter: $85,000
2011 Chevy 1500 Silverado pickup, 4WD, crew cab, 16,900 miles: $25,000
2009 Yamaha T700FI Rhino utililty vehicle with 508 miles: $8,250

The 2012 CaseIH 180 Magnum with 0 hours & the 2013 CaseIH ER1240 12R-30 planter weren't at the auction....they are BEING BUILT NOW and will be delivered to the local CaseIH dealer in mid-October 2012.....wow, selling new machinery at auction that isn't there, is being built and will be delivered in 2 months.

The used farm equipment market sure has changed, hasn't it?

The scoop on this consignment auction by Ahders Auction Service and Keith Elbers Auction was all this super late model stuff was from 1 local estate. The family just needed to sell it. My friend auctioneer Keith Elbers told me none of these items were bought by local dealers, it all went to farmers from the area. Of course what drives a sale like are the significant changes MFG's have made to how they build & sell new equipment these days......YOU BUY IT - THEN WE'LL BUILD IT FOR YOU. This philosophy & approach has been around long enough now that the farm audience has become accustomed to what this means. So Keith relayed to me the general theme leading up to and at the auction Monday on all this basically BRAND NEW equipment was......"I can't get my hands on a NEW one, so here's my chance." How do these sale prices stack up? Well, obviously a difficult comparison due to how very NEW these items were....haven't seen any other 2013 model CaseIH ER1240 12R-30 Planters sold on the auction market yet :) But I'd say these sale prices held in very well. The "build sheet" price on that 2012 CaseIH 5130 Combine was $205,000, so $185,000 hard cash on Monday's auction with no dealer financing...pretty darn good/strong price.
