Ambition, Good Employees and Productive Equipment Helps An Alberta Grower Farm Nearly 100,000 acres.
From Case IH Owner Profile Article in Canadian Farming Summer 2009
“I love stirring the dirt,” explains Yak Hengerer. He also likes doing things “bigger, better and faster.” These traits have led to Hengerer farming nearly 100,000 acres of wheat, barley, canola and mustard in an 80 kilometer radius around Glenwood, Alberta.
In spite of its massive scale, his operation is surprisingly similar to farms a tenth of its size. For example, instead of one or two big tractors, he runs 13. Rather than one or two air seeders, Hengerer runs 10. At harvest 14 combines take to the fields. He has 15 full time employees.
