Combines 9600 Cylinder Spiders Breaking Out

Yes we just came from the dealer. They have our combine in for a Green light and happened to find a few bent and one cracked bar. Once the feeder house was off they then found a crack all the way around, at the weld on the left side of the combine next to the side. Part of the problem should be shouldered by JD in that the weld was undercut badly when it was made at the factory. Deere seemed to be uninterested in thinking it was any of their fault. Anyway I guess it is common they have changed a few. Punk

While you have your machine at the dealer, you might ask them about replacing the spiders that don't have the center bushings with those with the bushings in them. See if they or JDeere think that would stop this problem. Make them all contact the shaft for support.

ive seen them break on the right side without harming the cylinder bars i think that someone is working too late in the day when it is starting to get tough and maybe slugging the cylinder too many times will do this
