Combines 1 bu of loss

The 9600 owners manual says that it takes 95 seeds of barley per sq. ft.gathered directly behind the separator without a straw spreader or chopper to equal 1 bu. per acre of loss. I run 30 ft. headers with choppers and chaff spreaders. With this I assume that a 1 bu. loss would be about 16 berries per sq. ft. The separator is about 1_6 the width of the entire header. If the machine is running full down the sides and not much in the middle it may need flighting extensions on the auger flighting. They will move the material more to the center at the feeder house to fill the separator evenly. This feeding can be even more fine tuned by adding to or cutting off some of the stripper bar under the header auger. Good luck.

The easiest solution to this problem is to put a set of 26 inch tires on the back of the machine. Might not seem like much but it gives the straw and extra 2 seconds on the straw walkers. That is what they did to the 9610's and it helped.
