    Homemade hash

    I'm a sucker for canned roast beef hash. It has so much salt in it though. I would love to make my own. Does anyone have a tried and true recipe? I would think it is just roast beef and potatoes but what else?

    We are bottle feeding one of our calves. He isn't drinking well from his momma. Anyone do this before? It's actually very sweet, my children like to help.

    I've always been told to plant our seed potatoes on a hill (mound). Does everyone do this? Why is it that we do? I always have luck with lots of potatoes but I wondered why the hill.

    We finally got our tomato plants planted. It's been a wonderfully hot week with no signs of frost at night. We planted several varieties this year and I'm going to track to see the difference. We are new to planting many tomato plants. We usually just plant one type for our own consumption.

    We just put up a couple of new feeders. We put them under a tree. I'm thinking it was a bad choice as I'm sure that squirrels are getting into the feeders. Where is the safest place to put them in a yard?

    So... I've noticed that we don't get many birds at night (at our feeders). I'm assuming it is because birds sleep. I never did research on this but they have to sleep right? Where and don't they feel threatened?

    Pregnant sow (pig)

    How can you tell if your pig is pregnant? We've got a couple of sows that are 6 months old. We also have a couple of male pigs (boars) that are just under a year old. They are all kept together.
