    Red Ant Solution

Through the years, I have tried every product out there to kill the red ant infestations I have on my property. So just on a whim, I poured some paint thinner down a hole, and I haven't seen them come back yet. If it's the same next week, I'm buying more. Just thought I'd share my little...

    Confronting your fears

There are so many resources available to beginners, that educating yourself to alleviate your fears is easier than ever. Always start with your local extension office

    Cattle Pasture

Red or white clover, fescue, Bermuda are a few good choices for forage. Keep in mind also that you will need about 2 acres per head.

    Hole driver

If you want to go old school on it, do it John Henry style. John Henry they used to lay railroad ties like that as well. Four or 5 men would swing their sledgehammers in unison to get the job done But yeah, most farm machinery stores will sell the basic pounder.

    Homemade machinery

Necessity is the other of invention. I always like looking at things like this, then go out to the garage to see if I need to do this.

    Why Deal With China?

We all have to get into the habit of not buying a lot of cheap stuff, but rather a modest amount of quality items. You won't be spending more, you wont have clutter and you won't be giving China any money. This is what I do. I make it a point to check the "Made In" label.

    Put up new clothesline

Where I live, the line has to be taut and the poles, like your husbands, have to be sturdy and dug deep. When the wind blows out here it doesn't mess around.

    Tornado Preperations

The season started with a doozy of a twister in Texas yesterday. Do you have all your ducks in a row? Paperwork, finances, family essentials and such if the worst case scenario happens?

    Diversified farming

I diversify what I do. I just see the entire business as being a bit too unstable to put all my eggs in one basket, so to speak.

Do you sell by pound or whole pig/cow?

Selling the whole animal versus by the pound is like selling 1,000 acres instead of splitting it into 10 acre chunks. You can make more money selling by the pound.

    Right To Repair

Because outfits like John Deere and Novartis have lobby groups. These lobby groups donate heavily to political campaigns if the person running have their best interests at heart. That's why they care about farmers.

    Anyone paying attention to NY?

If the majority of voters want him out, he should resign. If the majority of other politicians want him out, that should mean nothing. He works for the voters, not other politicians.

    Robotic Farming Tech

If it's actually needed to boost productivity, I'm all for it. Having robotic tech. just for the sake of it is a waste of money in my opinion. Like those robotic floor sweepers that are all over the place. It's not needed, it's wanted and that's not enough reason for me to buy something right...

    City To Country

Responding to another new post got me to thinking. Do you think people will have had enough of the city life now that they will start moving, if they have the mean$, out to more rural areas? If I lived in the city right now I think I would do everything possible to get out.

    How Hard Is Cdl Test

Tests like that are made to pass. Just study for a few days and you should be good to go. The rules of the road are pretty much the same for every driver out there.

Try to grow grapes for wine-making?

I've never tried it, but I do see some small vineyards in the county where I live. They are really nice to look at when the sunrise hits them and the morning dew is still on them.

    A bit of ranting

I think this is the time this needs to be said: Take a look at a map of the United States and of where all the cases of Covid-19 are. The densely populated cites got hit much, much harder than rural areas. If, God forbid, a second wave hits then maybe people will start to re-evaluate their...

    Pest Management Materials

Can anyone recommend good pest or insect management reading materials? Like PDF downloads for example? I would like to know more about chemicals used. I'm just trying to expand my knowledge base.

    Cleaning routine

I usually do one part of the house at a time. It's too large for me to do it all in one day. It stays pretty clean though, I'm not worried.
