if it did frost up, the thermostat is not doing its job. Make sure probe is in core. Also make sure drain lines are clear. When it quits again, if it does, look at the compressor clutch and see if it is turning. If not it is electical, if it is turning, quickly touch the lines on the compressor at the condensor coil - the HP should be so hot it will hurt - so do it quickly - the low pressure side should be cool and if operating correctly - moisture laden on the metal parts. Finally ramblin thoughts, low air flow through the evap core will cause it to freeze up - if you fixed the air flow you probably fixed the problem.
