YES!!!!! Chopper run without corn curtain will beat the livin daylights out of the shield and rear of the walkers. Used to be a decal that said harvesting corn w_o corn kit voids warr of machine. Curtain makes sure the cobs enter the chopper in the front and will not let the chopper blades hit 'foul balls' into the top and walkers etc.

The top of the back of my F2 is puffed up a bit from the previous owner having a short(about half lenght)curtain in corn.Pretty well trashed the back end of walkers as well as beat small holes in the side walls at front of chopper.
