The blocks are physically the same, so it should fit. Some of the first 80's I think, had the 436's in em, but I could be wrong on that. The tag on the intake side should tell what it is. I would think the 40 would have less cooling capacity, but a quick perousal of a parts book would tell for sure. I have a book for my 80, but not the others. If you knew the part number in your combine, I could compare. A good radiator shop should also be able to figure it out. That should be one bad little 1440 if you do it though! Chads

You are correct. We have a 1980 1480 with a 436 in it.

The early 1480s did indeed have 436s in them. In 81 when they switched to electric over hydraulics on the header control they switched to a 466 but kept the rotary American bosch pump. In 83 they removed the rotary pump and switched to the Bosch M_W inline pump on the 1480s.

Yes it will fit, it'll be a bit overpowered for a 1440 so I wouldn't turn it up!
