Combines 1688 to 9600

I beleive that the 9600 is a bigger combine than the 1688, and they do make nice straw, we used to have a 9500 and farmers who baled it loved it. Now from our experiance, if you do any amount of high moisture like 25% or greater corn combining, the 1688 will out shine the conventional deeres, but if its any dryer than that hold on to your seat cause that 9600 will walk over a 1688 any day of the week. Rotors, we find make less fines than conventional combine in higher persent moisture corn. What r your thoughtsIJ

what about the reliability. Neighbour wore out his feeder house in 1100 hrs is that normal We dont do corn mostly red spring wheat and durum

Its not usually normal, but it depends on what your doing. like your running alot of product up the feederhouse, in wheat and durham, so it tends to be harder on it, but that is a key thing to threshing is your even feeding into the cylinder. YOu will tend to wear out your feederhouse chain faster if its not kept tight enough or also the big thing is if its too tight. those long chains don't need to be that tight. We got good life out of our first feederhouse chain on our 9500 i think it was 2200 engine hours so that was like 1800 seperator hours. Its all part of wear and tear on a machine.

I ran both machines for a full season and have rebuilt them as well. They're very comparable in capacity and durability. After 1000 separator hours you will find extensive wear in both machines. Auger flightings, feederhouses and other parts will need a rebuilt. The newer machines like 2388 or 1950STS are even worse. They need to be rebuilt after 700 separator hours.
