We had same problem about 2 yrs ago, , Tighten your concaves to ZERO, Max rotor speed out, Max fan out, Open top sieve about 1_2 inch the bottom sieve, 1_4 inch, This is what it takes for me to clean wheat, @ yrs ago mine looked like trash, Now i can have a sample that looks almost as good as bagged seed wheat,, let me know if this works, Good luck, Every year i learn a new way to set our machine which is a 1680, Ive learned from the book that its settings are way off usually unless you have easily threshing wheat or soybeans,

John -- You mentioned that this happens "sometimes" -- Does it seem to happen worse on a windy dayIJ

Your chaff may be spreading over into the next cut in crosswinds and being picked up by the fan, which will blow up it under the chaffer and under the sieve. Also, a stiff tailwind will keep chaff from carrying out. In the 2nd case, are you using a chaffer with 2 stages or 3 stages of adjustmentIJ
