Combines luck

Central Wis. and we harvesting corn yet. We had frost in Aug. so most of the corn is still at 20-22% and with the cost of drying some guys are letting it out in the field in stead of paying for drying. We had drought last year(03) and the yields where still 120-130bpa, but this year(04) we had a wet spring(planted late ) then drought agian, then frost so the yields were in the 40-100bpa range, you get the picture. So right now I still have about 100 acres left to do. And one customer I know for a fact I will be no-tilling beans right behind the combine in May! And that is not the first time I have done this. In the mid 90's we always left 60-70 acres in the field untill spring and followed the combine with the planter, the cheapest storge and drying you can get!

As much as I enjoy combining I don't envy you. There is still a bit of corn left here in this part of Ontario but nobody is at it. Too much snow in it. Good luck.
