The header will sit on the feederhouse. Although the last one I remeber seeing was a 973 mounted on a TR85 top drive feederhouse. There was a couple of short jackshafts and a chain drive so that the top driver feeder would run the bottom drive head. They also had a wedge welded to the head pushing the bottom out away from the feeder. I don't know why they did this. As far as the reel drive all leter 973 had hydraulic reels so you will need to add the hyd pump and valve on the TR70. I am pretty sure some of the early 973 heads still had the electric motor moving a variable speed belt for the mechanical drive reel. That should work the same as the older platforms. You might also consider finding a bottom drive feederhouse from a later TR85_95 machine. You could just install that feederhouse on your combine. Where I work they have an old TR70 that is now just junk but it has the later bottom drive feederhouse installed on it.
