What is the 2001 Chevy 2500hd 8.1 MPG? I'm wondering what the mileage is like.

It says average 13.0mpg but some are averaging in the 7s and 8s. I'm guessing they are towing more frequently or driving up hill to school, both ways.

Getting to that school is a bear, isn't it? Who thought that was a good idea? LOL
If you're not towing anything, driving on flat land, going the speed limit, etc.....and still get 8 mpg it's time for a tune-up. Transmission fluid and spark plugs is where I would start.
