Combines 40 ft flex head

My comparison would just be based on spending time running a JD635 Hydraflex this past year and my observations of the 540 Maxflex at the farm shows and in the fields this fall. The Cat _ Claas 540Maxflex has some very good features: lexion center supported auger will improve flighting to rear stripper control. JD heads are terrible about hitting on the stripper when operated on rolling terrain or raised up for turning around on the ends. Cat dual knife drive should be more durable than the JD single drive. The Cat Claas mechanical feeler bands incorporated into the flexhead will make their flex head more user friendly for use in wheat and small grain harvest. If it weren't for these sensing bands, I'd be concerned about potential damage to the low outboard idlers on the 540. Flex range and lock up system looks and works good on the 540 Maxflex. New reel looks good too. Overall, the 540 Maxflex should be a good header.
