The federal government is getting a mixed grade from the Canadian Pork Council for it's trade efforts.
The Council likes what's being done to get a deal at the World Trade Organisation and with the European Union.
Council Chair Jurgen Preugschas says the government's committment to the multilateral process is important to the hog industry.
He says it's key to maintaining existing pork markets and opening up new ones.
But the Council remains concerned with the apparent lack of progress on a deal with South Korea.
Preugschas says the lack of a deal there is putting 250 million dollars worth of sales at risk of being completely wiped out within a year.
The Council says that will lead to lower prices for producers and the loss of jobs in the meat processing and value-added
sector.
