King County, WA (KING5) -- A dramatic rescue was caught on camera in Washington state. A snowmobiler was caught in an avalanche and quickly pulled to safety by his friends.
It had been a perfect sunday of snowmobiling at Stampede Pass. A group of buddies were out to make tracks in the deep fresh powder, then it happened.
Video taken by one of the men shows an avalanche cutting loose. In seconds, one of the men is buried alive.
"I knew that I was buried enough in snow that I couldn't move... was suffocating in the snow," said snowmobiler John Swanson.
John's buddy, Rick Jablinske, saw it all happen. "And when they were digging, I was like, oh this isn't good...I was grabbing a shovel while the guys were in there with their hands."
