The Illinois Corn Marketing Board is proposing an increase in the corn checkoff fee from the current 3/8-cent per bushel to 5/8 cent.

The checkoff generates money for crop research and market development efforts. Producers have the right to have their fees refunded.

A public hearing will be held at 10 a.m., Feb. 21, in Room 66 of the Illinois Department of Agriculture's administration building on the state fairgrounds in Springfield

Statements also may be submitted in writing. Copies of the proposal are available from the Department of Agriculture's marketing and promotions office. Written comments will be due Feb. 17, addressed to Director of Agriculture, P.O. Box 19281, Springfield, IL 62794-9281.
