Easy Rake Brings Safety & Efficiency to Your Silage Pit

Depending on how many cattle you feed and what stage those cattle are at, the silage pit can be your second home during the day. It can also be a very dangerous place depending on how high that pile is. Typically if your pile is high, you end up creating a cliff when you dig that silage out with a loader. If that cliff collapses at the wrong time it can be deadly. Not only that, but the resulting uneven face thats left behind can cause more spoilage in your pit.

Those are some of the reasons behind the design of the easy rake, a device that is exactly what it sounds like. Essentially it?s a big rake that attaches to a loader, a tele-handler or a skid steer. It is long enough to reach the top of the pit and it rakes instead of digging leaving the face of your pit smooth and pocket free. I spoke to Mike Hanson of Hanson Silo Company about the easy rake at NCBA 2012.
