Can You Use Starting Fluid On A Diesel

Can you use starting fluid on a diesel with glow plugs? The container says no, but what's the actual risk?

you must not use the glow plugs or disconnect power to the glow plugs if they come on automatically to use either, the reason is the glow plugs will ignite the either way to early on the compression stroke, also to much either will over pressure the combustion chamber, broken piston rings or pistons are common when using either

If you have to ask then never do it . We work with diesel engines daily and it can be done but not recommended . Its a process that can and will destroy a engine if not done correctly
