It's not just their combine either. Their MX tractors are crap too, and no support from them. I think they better wake up before the whole company is history.
i hate to say it but i think its too late, CaseIH will be left with no more than a nitch in the market in short time after the 8010 and MXM disasters, I was working on an MX120 today and beside it was an MXM and i wanted to cry. MX's are crapIJ Whats going on, have have very good luck around here with them, especially the new series.I thought the MX and the 23XX combines were the last good things left ( notice they are both decendents from IH ) with patience the others will be good but RandR on the customer is getting old, for both farmer and mechanic.
I agree totally with what you are saying but I feel it goes right down to the dealers. Things seem to have changed since CNH took over. I have an 03 2388 I am talking with my dealer about trading for a new 2388 but they don't seem to interested in my trade they tell me it has to many hours on it. Well for what they cost do they expect you to put on 200 hours a year. I have 1500 rotor hours on my combine and if they are telling me it is worn out maybe it is time to change colors.
Big Al, This winter we traded of a '99 2366 with around 1300 rotor hours. last fall we replaced a lot of sheet metal on the clean grain elevator because of wear through. Before the start of fall harvest last year we had to replace all the unloading augers. In the past we have normally run the 14 and 16 series combines to close to 2,000 hrs and only once did we have to replace the unloading augers and never any sheet metal. Personally I feel that the metal going into the combines is not what it use to be. Our service manager disagreed and said the metal was actually thicker than in the previous models and what we were seeing was from moving more grain through it faster. We also have had a hard time getting our CIH dealer to give us a decent offer on a trade. We haven't bought a new combine since 1982 but buy ones that have 3-500 rotor hrs on them. The 2366 had 225hrs on it when we bought it and the 2388 we just traded for has around 550 rotor hours. Both combines came from a Deere dealer. On comparible machines the CIH dealer was not even close in both instances. I have dealt with this CIH dealer for years and they have a great service and parts dept. but for some reason we can no longer deal with them when buying equipment
I still have some CaseIH "stuff" around; - one MX, a 7250, some tillage and a seed drill. I share the opinions of the posts below, and I sometimes wonder if CNH isn't deliberately trying to sabatoge CaseIH. If they aren't, they couldn't be doing a better job. I, too, have noticed a decline in both after-sale service and overall dealer morale.
Its the same here in England, Case is rapidly loosing dealers to McCormick, these are selling well as they are basically the old MX. I think New Holland is trying to run the company down and get rid of it, but I know that this won't work in the US as red and green is all that is seen!! Also after talking to Jimmy Clark from Scotland he says that he has had no help with his combine. Basically the company can sell New Hollands in England and the Axial Flow is sidelined. If they pushed the advertising on the combine explaining its output and cheaper pricing etc. they could sell a lot more. I think Navstar should buy the company. If they can afford it!!!
