I went to an electrical supply store and bought clamps used for 3" conduit.

Got my clamps at True Value store in electical department. I had to trim them a little to get them to fit they way I wanted, but they work really well.

I used 1" flat iron wrapped it around a 3" pipe in the vice ,one tack weld and 3_8" hole to bolt to guard bolt.
