How many ears of corn grow on one 7? does the density of seeds planted affect that number?

I have only ever seen one ear of corn grow on one stalk. It would be cool if more did but I haven't seen it.

If your corn is crammed together you'll end up with plants that are competing for the same limited resources - water, nutrients, and sunlight. You could end up with weaker plants and smaller ears of corn. I suppose they'd do a good job of keeping out the weeds, so there is that. However, if you're interested in smothering out the weeds, you could do a three sisters number and have a better outcome if you like squash or pumpkins and climbing beans.

The number of ears depend on the seed you plant. We grow two ear corn for cattle feeding and the density does not matter for ears. We double plant fields, meaning we plant over the same rows twice to double up. This gives us more ears per acre and thinner stalks which keeps them softer for the cows. Also less tilling and more fields for hay.
