We reverse our big tyres for a few reasons.One is that whatever we drive into we can %99 get out of,when the tyres are on roll instead of grip they don't seem to dig in as much and we float on the ground better,that doesn't include 3ft snow drifts.another reason is that the lug pattern doesn't chop out as bad for as harvest contractors we do a lot of road work. john.

Tom, I have seen 70s vintage combines with damage from pulling on the steering axle. Newer rigs seem to be tougher but they also weigh more and heads are bigger. I NEVER pull my combines from the steering axle. One particularly wet year, we rigged the ends of a 5_8 cable to the front axle and ran the loop in the center through the steering axle hook. Then it was easy to pull straight back without a bunch of screwing around. The final solution was some well-placed tiles. Tom Russell
