I'm trying to be careful about the soil's mixture in fear that it might affect plant growth. From what I've known, fruit and vegetable peels are suitable for pot composts since they decompose quickly. Is it okay to put any food wastes into a potting compost as long as it's organic?
My wife and I have a compost pile and we mix all of our compostable waste in it. Mostly kitchen waste and soiled bedding hay from the barn. We get nice compost from it that we use in our garden.
It doesn't matter if it's organic, unless that's something you're aiming for. I don't put meat, bones, or cheese in my compost, but I add most other kitchen scraps.
