Which crops do you grow that serve several purposes? Mine is corn. I can eat it, I can make many things with the husks, I can feed the corn to my livestock, I can let my livestock graze on the stalks after the harvest, and it's a nitrogen fixer for the soil.

Corn is an obvious choice for most people, with a third of America's corn crop used to feed cattle, poultry, and so forth. The oat plant serves as food besides being a cover crop. It prevents erosion, increases the soil's nitrogen content, and suppresses weeds.

We grow corn, too.

Though we do not grow it in bulk, I have a lavender bush. I use the flowers for my tea. I make lavender essential oil. I also use the flowers in little bags, and place them in my linen closet, under my pillow, etc to make things smell good. The one under my pillow helps me relax at night so I can go to sleep better.
